Our Distillery
The story of the Knockdhu distillery, and the outstanding whisky it produces, were brought to life by a man of vision. The discovery of pure water springs on nearby Knock Hill, coupled with a landscape rich in peat and barley and the nearby Great North of Scotland railway line, presented a golden opportunity to John Morrison, who purchased the Knock estate in 1892.

History
Built in 1894 using eye-catching local grey granite, it was regarded as the embodiment of an innovative, modern distillery. Its timeless quality endures to this day, as distinctive as the whisky which has made its mark as a modern single malt.
Our Ethos
While our production methods may remain proudly rooted in tradition, we’re equally committed to placing innovation and sustainability at the heart of the process. In fact, one of the only things we don’t reclaim and re-purpose is the ‘angel’s share’.
