Business or pleasure? Have you ever been asked this famous question on your travels? It seems that now an even more important binary conundrum arises and a new line needs to be coined. Light or dark, sir?
anCnoc loves travelling. The sense of excitement and adventure, the change of environment. It's an ancient idea but these days applied with a modern gusto. Air travel is how we usually eat up long distances and with international airports comes something no whisky lover can resist. Travel retail.
Following the highly successful anCnoc Luggage, part of the Peter Arkle collection, we are now introducing not one but two new expressions exclusive to those on the go. The traditionally unpeated, light, clean and juicy side of anCnoc is represented by the gorgeous Black Hill Reserve and our recently rediscovered dark and moody side is embodied by Barrow, the latest addition to the Peaty Collection.
anCnoc Black Hill Reserve takes its name from Knockdhu, meaning the Black Hill in Gaelic, the most distinctive feature in the landscape around the village of Knock and the origin of our purer than pure water source. It was matured in ex-bourbon casks and shows that classic, crisp anCnoc style you may remember from its Luggage predecessor. The honey, lemon and green apple core reigns supreme and the oaky influence manifests itself in a spicy vanilla note. This is a delicious and moreish whisky and it comes in a litre bottle to help the memories of your voyages last just that little bit longer. Bottled at 46% ABV, non chill-filtered, presented at natural colour.
anCnoc Barrow follows in the footsteps of four wildly successful expressions forming the Peaty Collection. The dark, smoky side of anCnoc has proven a real hit with experienced whisky enthusiasts, a fact highlighted by the recent award for anCnoc Cutter. The newest addition boasts a 13.5 ppm phenol content at 46% ABV. It also hasn't been chill-filtered or coloured. What's more, Barrow is limited to only 7,500 bottles and once it's gone, it's gone so our advise is not to linger when you see it on the shelf. The taste profile is defined by rich smoke but the unmistakable anCnoc style is still there, offering balance and elegance.
Safe travels, anCnoc fans!
