We are delighted to introduce Lorraine Kennedy as the newest member of the Knockdhu Distillery team. Hailing from the distillery’s birthplace in the village of Knock, Lorraine joins us to welcome visitors to the home of A Modern Tradition. Now let’s hand over to Lorraine…
Tell us a bit about yourself?
Hi, My name is Lorraine and I live a stone’s throw away from the distillery, and have never worked in the whisky industry before, so it’s all brand new and exciting.
So it sounds like you know Knock rather well, how would you describe the village to anyone that’s never been?
Knock is a small, quiet and welcoming village with a bonny wee distillery called Knockdhu situated in the middle of it.
You’ve now been part of the team at Knockdhu for a few weeks, what’s does an average day at Distillery look like for you?
Knockdhu is a very friendly distillery with a fantastic bunch of guys who have been extremely helpful in teaching me the process of making anCnoc whisky, to a point where I am able to mash in, charge and discharge stills. My days vary but I meet some great people from all over the world, who I thoroughly enjoy sharing the Knockdhu experience with.
What do you like most about your job?
Everything! it’s a great place to work.
What would you say to anyone considering a visit to the distillery?
We won’t rush visits, after all we don’t rush the production process. We want you to enjoy your time with us and really get a feel for the goings on at Knockdhu.
So, what are you waiting for? - come and say hello! Our daily tours start at 10:00 or 14:00, Monday to Friday, or contact us to arrange alternative times on 01466 771223 or by email to kennedyl@inverhouse.com. We look forward to seeing you soon!
